Bewdley Town 1 Whitchurch Alport 4
Alport continued their great run of form by comfortably seeing off the challenge of strugglers Bewdley Town. A brace from Jud Ellis and one for returning top scorer Alex Hughes with George Carpenter scoring a fourth in added on time to put the icing on the cake. Town enjoyed something of a purple spell with 10 minutes to go after Josh Carpenter netted a rebound with goalkeeper Ellis Allen unlucky having saved the initial penalty. Jud’s first goal came midway through a dominant first half putting the ball into the net from 6 yards out but it was Jimmy Garlick who did most of the work in creating the tap-in for the support striker. Right on the stroke of half-time Ellis grabbed his second with a terrific solo run which brought a deserved reward.
The Reds started the second half well and extended their lead with Alex converting after Sidaway had saved his spot kick – a rare event with Hughesy normally so deadly from 12 yards. Then it became the Carpenter show with Josh getting his name on the scoresheet for the home side before George pounced for Luke Goddard’s men to restore their three-goal advantage after 91 minutes.
