The Whites quickly shrugged off FA Cup heartache today and got their Bank Holiday double header off to a perfect start this afternoon with a 2-0 win at Highgate United thanks to goals from Lyndon Campbell and Alex Hughes
Luke Goddard fielded as strong a team as possible, giving a debut to new signing Harvey Lewis with the good Lord Kevin Street being named on the bench. It was the hosts who started brightly, with only the offside.flag denying them the opening goal. The first half was lacking any real quality, that was until a Harvey Lewis corner was only part cleared, straight into the path of Lyndon Campbell, who let fly from 20 yards. The ball took a slight deflection, which was enough to wrong foot Reece Francis and it nestled in the back of the net and gave the Whites the lead, which they took into the break.
The 2nd half couldn’t have started any better for the lads. A pin point cross field ball by Campbell, was controlled superbly by Alex Hughes, who then cut inside and shot past Francis to give the whites a bit of breathing space. Although the hosts pushed, the lads coped with their long ball hit and hopes relatively easily, and managed the game really well. To add a bit of class to the closing period, the good Lord Kevin Street made a long awaited appearance.
Onto Monday now when we travel to Romulus, hoping to make it back to back wins #WeAreAlport
