Whitchurch Alport Football Club would like to so its appreciation and respect to skipper SEAN GRIFFITHS who has made the difficult decision last week to leave the Club after six seasons at Yockings Park.

With over 250 appearances, a promotion, over 8 trophies and over half of his tenure served as Club Captain we have been very fortunate to have someone of Griff`s loyalty, character and all round qualities since he joined back in December 2017 from local rivals Market Drayton Town.

In making this tough decision to move on he added “I can`t really put into words how immense my time at Alport has been. The memories not just on the pitch, but off it will certainly last a life time. I`m proud of the record created and to have built a bond with not only the Club but the people of the town is what has made my time so enjoyable.

With the travelling from where I live to the Midlands aswell as Whitchurch its time for me to be closer to home and I feel now is the right timing to move on. I will be forever grateful to Luke, the staff & Club for the opportunity to help play a part in the history we have made since 2017”

We`re sure we share the views of all the #RedArmy in thanking Griff for everything he has done and committed to the Football Club, it goes without saying him and Katie will be forever welcome to WAFC. In typical Sean Griffiths fashion he also asked the Club to donate any fuel expenses for September back to the Club and we cannot thank you enough for everything SKIPPER.

The Club would also like to confirm defender Ritchie Sutton has made the move to Hednesford Town in the league above last week and we thank Sutts for all his efforts and commitment since joining towards the end of last season.
