Following the publishing of the factually inaccurate report in the Whitchurch Herald yesterday regarding first team manager Luke Goddard’s drink driving conviction, we issue this statement in support of Luke. It is with regret that Mental Health awareness is not at the forefront of journalism in Whitchurch. The printing of the personal challenges faced by Luke has been branded ‘disgusting’ by several major sponsors of the club and as a club we condemn the way in which this report gave no consideration to the individual. Luke has been inspirational, not only to Whitchurch Alport FC but also to the wider community. He has bought hope and strong leadership to the town and is loved by all of those in and around the club. We will rally around Luke to help wherever possible and trust the local community will also do the same’
