Tomorrow evening the KMJ Mortgages Stadium welcomes back Ethelston Cup football for the first time since COVID-19! The historic local competition that supports local charities with monies raised has unfortunately been postponed the past two seasons with Covid-19.

Alport previously retained the Cup the last time it was in action after going a number of years without success. This year will see an Alport X1 formed to attempt to win the Cup again for 2022/23. The side will be led by our successful U19s managers Simon Winstone & Rob Dutton. With the majority of their U19s side featuring along with a few first team members from Luke Goddard’s side.

Tomorrow’s opponents St Martins have recently dropped out of Step 6 football after a number of proud years competing at that level despite limited resources and begin life in their new division this season as they look to build for the future at what is another fantastic, friendly Club ran by good people.

It should be a highly competitive fixture and we hope many can turn up to support this great competition and cheer Alport hopefully into another Cup final!
